Capacity Building and Research
At CBM India, capacity building lies at the heart of our work towards disability inclusion. Through a suite of educational programs, professional development courses, and training initiatives, we empower people, organizations, and systems to drive inclusion and bring about change. Our initiatives range from nationally and internationally accredited professional courses to specialized training for educators and healthcare professionals. We also contribute to the growing body of knowledge through research.
How We Do It
Certificate Course in Community Based Inclusive Development
CBM India is approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) as a training institute for conducting a six-month course on Community Based Inclusive Development. The goals of this program, co-designed by the Rehabilitation Council of India and the University of Melbourne, are to create a pool of grassroots rehabilitation workers who can work alongside other community workers to deal with cross-disability issues and facilitate the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the society and to provide competency-based knowledge and skills among these workers to enhance their ability for rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
Capacity building of educators, healthcare professionals, and grassroots workers
Our training programs focus on equipping teachers and healthcare and community workers with practical skills to support persons with disabilities. For educators, we provide training about inclusive teaching methods, helping them create classrooms where all children can learn together effectively. Our projects healthcare and community workers learn about disability-inclusive practices, ensuring their services are accessible and respectful of all patients’ needs. We regularly update our training content based on evolving best practices in the field.
Evaluation and Research
Through our research initiatives, CBM India contributes to the growing understanding of disability inclusion in the Indian context. We regularly document and evaluate our projects, turning valuable field experiences into learning resources. Our research outputs include reports and papers that highlight both challenges and successful practices in disability inclusion.
