Ramesh Moyra, a 25-year-old young man, lived in Sultanpur with his mother as his sole companion.
After his father, a wood-cutter, passed away 4 years ago, Ramesh struggled to make ends meets the only breadwinner. On top of this, he suffered from polio.

However, none of this stopped him from dreaming big – to set up a poultry farm, alongside rearing cows, to enhance his income. He realised the importance of taking baby steps and thus started out with 1 cow which they reared for milk.

Additionally, he received economic support from the government amounting to Rs 1,000 a month under the Manobik Pension Scheme.

But things went for a toss with the lockdown. It came crashing down and knocked the breath out of him.

His mother says, “Being a hopeful and positive person it was very unlike him to be so disturbed.” When his situation came to CBM’s notice, we immediately reached out with food, sanitation kits and general support.

Though he did hit rock bottom, he was quick learner who soon recognized the need to see the silver lining. He has begun to use his time at hand to plan better his future endeavours.

Many youth are out there who only a little support to take off – such individuals need to be given the right support at the right time.
