Our Commitment to Inclusive Humanitarian Action

At CBM India, we recognize that persons with disabilities and marginalized communities are disproportionately affected by the effects of climate change and during humanitarian crises, often facing increased risks and exclusion during emergencies. Our inclusive humanitarian action and environment programs address this challenge with disability-inclusive disaster preparedness initiatives and rehabilitation. At the same time, we champion environmental sustainability, acknowledging its crucial role in mitigating future disasters.

How We Do It

By interweaving disability inclusion with climate and humanitarian action, we strive to create resilient
communities where no one is left behind in the face of adversity. Our core areas of intervention include:

Emergency Response

We deliver assistance during crises, while also implementing comprehensive rehabilitation programs to rebuild lives and restore communities in the aftermath of disasters.

Capacity Building

To build community resilience, we have implemented initiatives such as creating Village Disaster Management Committees and Task Force Groups, conducting community mapping exercises to understand risk zones and resources, and providing essential equipment to enhance search and rescue capabilities during emergencies.

Climate Action

Our climate action initiatives promote sustainable practices and technologies that address environmental challenges and improve community well-being. Our efforts include the promotion of cleaner and safer energy sources and cooking methods and reforestation projects to safeguard coastal communities.
